Techniek bij Multi Jet Fusie
Multi Jet Fusie is een printtechniek die door HP ontwikkeld werd, specifiek voor 3D printen. Bij deze techniek worden producten opgebouwd op basis van een bindmiddel, welke laag voor laag wordt aangebracht op polymeerpoederdeeltjes. Er zijn verschillende materialen die hierbij gebruikt kunnen worden, maar het meest gebruikelijk is nylon. Nylon is een zeer robuuste thermoplast en beschikt over een grote chemische weerstand. Het maakt het materiaal breed inzetbaar. Met een IR-warmtebron worden de verschillende lagen vervolgens gesinterd. Het sinteren maakt dat de verschillende lagen aan elkaar zullen hechten, wat leidt tot een zeer stevig eindproduct. Het is een proces waarbij een materiaal verhit wordt, zodanig dat het net niet smelt.
Toepassingen en voordelen van MJF
MJF wordt zowel gebruikt voor de productie van losse onderdelen, als ook voor complete prototypes. Een belangrijk voordeel van Multi Jet Fusie is de nauwkeurigheid waarmee onderdelen geprint kunnen worden. De kwaliteit van het eindproduct wordt vaak vergeleken met de kwaliteit die spuitgieten u oplevert. De hoge kwaliteit van deze printtechniek brengt tegelijkertijd het nadeel met zich mee, dat MJF voornamelijk geschikt is voor een kleine oplage van onderdelen. Bij een grotere oplage kan een andere manier van 3D printen een betere keuze zijn.
